ISLAMABAD: At least one person was killed and another injured when a car was fired upon in the federal capital on Wednesday. Police said that the armed men opened indiscriminate firing at the car in the jurisdiction of Sabzi Mandi police station in Sector I-11, near Pirwadhai, Islamabad. As a result of the firing, one person was killed on the spot while another was critically injured. The attackers fled the scene and the body and the injured were shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police said that the attack was the outcome of personal enmity. A case has been registered against the assailants and a raid is also being conducted for their arrest. The Sabzi Mandi area in Islamabad has remained the centre of all types of illegal activities in the past including bomb blasts, killings and extortion. The main reason is that it is the hub of business activities for all day and all night long, where people mostly from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as Afghan refugees are seen indulged in business activities and labour work and so criminals cannot be spotted in such a busy locality.
