LAHORE: The Lahore District Karate Association (LDKA) organised the Lahore District Cadet, Junior and Senior Karate Championships with more than 150 players, including 10 teams, participating. Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF) Chairman Muhammad Jahangir, PKF Secretary General Andaleeb Sindhu and Director Sports Punjab University Zafar Iqbal also attended the event. In the senior category, Queen Mary got first position along with Crescent. In the junior the category, National Grammar School (NGS) clinched first position. A total of 60 medals were distributed among players: 30 gold and 30 silver medals. LDKA Secretary General Faayaz Feroz said that District Lahore was aiming to organise more events to promote sports at district level. Speaking on the occasion, the PU Director Sports said: “These events are vital to promote sports. It was a great honour for girls to attend to attend this event in our gymnasium.” PKF Chairman Jahangir said that participation of 150 girls was a big motivation. Women technical officials Memoona Chaudhary, Saira Amjad, Ayesha Amjad acted as referees. Ghanzafar Ali led the referees panel of 20 referees. Published in Daily Times, February 19th 2018.
