The Islamabad High Court has sacked an additional district and session judge, Pervaiz-ul-Qadir after he confessed that he had accepted Rs five million from Axact’s owner. Axact is notoriously involved in issuing fake degrees. In return for the bribe, the judge acquitted Axact’s owner Shoaib Sheikh and other accused persons in this case. The registrar of IHC issued the notification of Mr Memon’s termination on the directions of the Chief Justice. Mr Memon had acquitted the accused persons on October 31st, 2016 and later confessed before the two member bench of Islamabad High Court. It seems that like other organisations and institutions, judges have also become corrupt and are selling justice with impunity. Such practices such be condemned because this will ruin the moral fibre of the society. The judge should be imprisoned. JAVED BASHIR Via E-mail Published in Daily Times, February 18th 2018.
