LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) organised a huge public gathering in Mochi Gate to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day. PPP’s co-chairman and former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira, Opposition Leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah, former PM Yousuf Raza Gilani, Senator Aitzaz Ahsan, former PM Raja Pervez Ashraf, PPP Kashmir president Chaudhry Naseem Akbar, Nayar Bukhari, Chaudhry Manzoor Wattoo, Faisal Salah Hayat, PPP Lahore president Azizur Rehman Chann, PPP Punjab Secretary Information Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, PPP Punjab women wing president Samina Ghurki and Aslam Gill also addressed the rally. Kashmir Day events: Kashmir Day was observed amid in tight security in the city. A large number of rallies, events and seminars were organised by civil society, Punjab government, educational institutions, student organisations, metropolitan corporation Lahore and political parties for recording their protests. People from different walks of lives including families, students, political party leaders and officials have participated in the events. Participants were holding placards and chanted slogans against India while different slogans inscribed on banners in the favour of Kashmir. The participants strongly condemned gross violations of basic human rights and excesses being committed by Indian troops in the occupied valley. Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) held ‘Kashmir Solidarity Rally” at The Mall. It was addressed by Federal Minister for Railway Khawaja Saad Rafique, Federal Minister for Commerce and Textile Pervaiz Malik, Khwaja Imran Nazeer, Lord Mayor Lahore Col (R) Mubashir Javed, Khwaja Ahmed Hassan, MNA Shaista Pervaiz Malik and other party leaders. Youth Forum for Kashmir also took out rally from Charing Cross to Lahore Press Club. Former PM of Pakistan and Chairman Senate Muhammad Mian Somro led the rally. The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore also observed the Kashmir Solidarity Day. A walk, led by the UET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, was organised to mark the day.
