Sir: According to a report by the citizen’s police Liaison committee (CPLC) more than 2,587 children were reportedly kidnapped or missing in the cities of Pakistan last year. Out of 2,587 missing children and 2,319 belong to boys and 263 children were girls. Around 78 percent of missing children belonged to the age 12 years to 18 years with remaining 22 percent were younger than 12 years. In fact, 80 percent of small children who run away from their homes they mostly belong to societies middle or lower income groups. The government needs to be serious on this issue and take some responsibility to stop this as soon as possible. The recent tragedy in Kasur has made it clear why this needs to be done.
