LAHORE: After winning men and women’s team titles, the supremacy of the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) continued in the 55th National Badminton Championship as they clinched two more titles here on Thursday. The titles won by WAPDA players included women’s singles crown and men’s doubles title. For women’s singles title, Mahoor Shahzad of WAPDA defeated Palwasha Bashir of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) 2 – 0. The score-line was 21-13 and 21-0. In the final of men’s doubles, Irfan Saeed and Azeem Sarwar of WAPDA defeated Atique Chaudary and Raja Husnain of WAPDA 2-1. The score-line was 21-14, 21-23 and 24-16. In the final of men’s singles, Ali Murad of NBP downed Irfan Saeed of WAPDA 2-0 with the score-line 21-14 and 21-18. Published in Daily Times, January 12th 2017.
