Sir: It seems that smog has already started to return to Lahore. Night before last I was driving from DHA to the Cantonment via Lahore ring road and the smog was so thick that I could hardly see anything. It was so bad that I missed the exit I was supposed to take and had to drive a whole hour until I could find another exit. A lot of time and fuel was wasted and the lack of visibility made it a nerve racking experience. It seems that night time visibility is a perpetual problem for Lahore’s motorists now. This is a major problem and the Punjab government should take action in this regard before there are any unnecessary tragedies. Lighting and reflectors should be used to maximise visibility for night time drivers. More importantly, reduction of air pollution should be made a priority so that the smog phenomenon ends once and for all. MURTAZA HASSAN Lahore Published in Daily Times, December 18th 2017.
