LAHORE: Two men were gunned down by unidentified assailants in Mughalpura police precinct on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Malik Naveed, 32, and his friend Ali Raza, 22, residents of Mujahidabad, Mughalpura. Mughalpura SHO Ishfaq Butt said that initial investigation suggested that the incident was an outcome of enmity. He said Naveed was the owner of a billiard club in the area and he had been involved in fights with different groups, according to his family. He said a week ago Naveed had fought with a few men but the matter got resolved as both sides agreed to settle the dispute. Late on Friday night, however, Naveed and his friend Ali Raza were on their way to some place on a motorcycle when some unidentified persons approached them and opened fired on them. As a result, both received severe bullet injuries. The assailants managed to escape from the crime scene. The injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced them dead. Their bodies were later sent to a mortuary. A police team formed to investigate the matter had collected evidence from the crime scene and sent it for forensic analysis.
