LAHORE: Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court on Saturday dismissed a petition seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, federal ministers, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and law minister Rana Sanaullah for alleged violation of their oath. The judge held that the petitioner could not provide any evidence in support of his allegations. Petitioner Faisal Naseer Khan, a former judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, had submitted that the respondents had used their offices for personal gain, and miserably failed to protect fundamental rights of their voters and other citizens. He said that this conduct of respondents was in violation of their oath. He requested that the respondents should be declared disqualified for violating their oath and their names should be put on the exit control list (ECL). He also sought directions that monetary value of perks and privileges enjoyed by the respondents should be recovered from them after their disqualification.
