Three people die, two injured as fire breaks out in Lahore’s Nishat colony

Published on: December 15, 2017 12:33 PM

LAHORE: At least three people were killed and two others left severely injured as a fire broke out in South Cantt Nishat Colony near Lahore’s RA Bazaar on Friday.

Shakila, Awais and Sajjad are said to have been killed in the blaze meanwhile Naveed and Waleed were reportedly injured as a result of the fire.

The bodies of the deceased along with the injured were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

The injured are said to be in critical condition.

Fire Brigade and other rescue personnel showed up moments after being contacted, but they could not save the precious lives because they were contacted late after the fire broke out and there was a lack of proper water supply on the spot.

Police also arrived in the area to help with operations.

The four-storey building was also an issue because there was not enough water pressure to diffuse the blaze at such height and this hindered fire extinguishing operations.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but it is being said that the incident happened due to a short circuit.

Rescue and firefighting operations are still going on in the area.

This is an ongoing story and will be updated accordingly.
