The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned Noreen Niazi, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, in connection with an investigation into alleged social media posts targeting state institutions. Authorities have directed her to appear before the agency’s Islamabad office on July 20 to record her statement as part of the ongoing inquiry.

According to an official notice issued under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Niazi has been asked to report to the NCCIA office in Sector G-13 at 12 noon. The notice states that investigators are examining allegations that false and inflammatory content was circulated on social media with the intention of defaming a state institution.
The notice further warns that failure to comply with the summons could lead to legal action under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Meanwhile, officials said the inquiry aims to gather Niazi’s statement before deciding on any further legal steps in the case.

The development comes a day after a video statement attributed to Noreen Niazi circulated on social media, in which she allegedly made controversial remarks concerning the Pakistan Army and recent regional developments. Authorities are examining the material as part of their investigation into the allegations.
The NCCIA said the inquiry remains ongoing and that the investigation will proceed in accordance with the law after reviewing all available evidence and the statement of the individual concerned. No further details regarding the outcome of the investigation have been released so far.
