Vance accuses Israelis of undermining Iran negotiations

Published on: July 16, 2026 6:19 PM

US Vice President JD Vance accused individuals linked to the Israeli government of trying to undermine negotiations with Iran. He claimed they sought to influence American public opinion and prolong the conflict. The remarks mark his strongest public criticism of Israeli officials over the Iran issue.

Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, Vance alleged that some figures within Israel wanted the war with Iran to continue indefinitely. He said the campaign aimed to derail efforts to secure an agreement that aligned with President Donald Trump’s objectives. Vance insisted he would continue pursuing what he believes serves US interests.

Vance claimed the campaign included media leaks and social media attacks targeting him over his stance on Iran. Referring to those behind the alleged effort, he said they could “go to hell.” However, he added that criticism from allies or within the US government was acceptable when conducted openly.

The vice president also said he had no objection to foreign governments attempting to influence Washington’s policies. Nevertheless, he argued that American officials should make decisions independently without being swayed by outside pressure. He said this principle was essential to protecting US national interests.

During the interview, Vance also discussed the handling of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He denied any cover-up while alleging Epstein had connections with senior American and Israeli intelligence figures. The claims were presented without supporting evidence during the interview.
