Mira Sethi opens up about divorce, says marriage decision was her own

Published on: July 12, 2026 9:50 AM

Pakistani actress, writer and host Mira Sethi has opened up about her divorce and marriage experience, saying that both decisions were entirely her own and she does not hold anyone else responsible for the outcome. Speaking in a podcast as a guest, Mira Sethi discussed the lessons she learned from her divorce and reflected on the decision to get married.

Mira Sethi said one of the biggest lessons she learned was not to always rely solely on her gut feeling and not to change her personality for anyone, whether it is a husband, friend, boss or any other person.

She said people often appreciate it when someone changes themselves according to their expectations, but compromising one’s own identity is not a positive approach.

The actress said the experience taught her a lot, helped her grow and made her more mature. She added that she can now openly discuss the matter as several years have passed since her divorce and she has moved forward in life.

Mira Sethi said women in society often face criticism after divorce or separation, with people claiming that a woman failed to adjust. She added that she did not face any social pressure regarding marriage and chose to marry at an age relatively later than societal expectations. She said the decision to marry was completely personal and was based on love and idealism, adding that she takes responsibility for that choice and does not blame anyone else for her divorce.

Mira Sethi married Bilal Siddiqi in California in November 2019, but the marriage ended in divorce in 2023. She publicly confirmed her divorce last year.
