Shakira has expressed her excitement about performing at the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final halftime show, calling it a landmark moment in the tournament’s history. The Grammy-winning artist explained that performing at the World Cup final feels especially meaningful because she also appeared at this year’s opening ceremony. She said she wants to make the halftime performance different from her earlier appearance, ensuring fans experience something fresh and memorable on one of football’s biggest nights.

FIFA and Global Citizen recently confirmed Justin Bieber as the latest addition to the star-studded lineup, joining Shakira, Madonna, and BTS. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin will curate the groundbreaking 11-minute production, which is expected to feature multiple artists performing together in a unique collaboration designed specifically for the World Cup final.

Shakira described the halftime show as a historic event and praised the world-famous performers taking part. She also expressed hope that Chris Martin will appear on stage alongside the other artists instead of remaining behind the scenes. The event is expected to introduce a new entertainment tradition for future FIFA World Cup finals.

The World Cup has played a significant role throughout Shakira’s career since the success of Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) during the 2010 tournament. Ahead of this year’s final, she is also celebrating the success of her collaboration with Burna Boy, Dai Dai, which became the first official FIFA World Cup anthem to reach the top of Billboard’s Global Exclusive U.S. chart.
