Today longest day, shortest night of year

Published on: June 22, 2026 9:27 AM

Today is the longest day and shortest night of the year in Pakistan, as well as around the world. Astronomically, countries in the northern hemisphere of the earth are experiencing the longest day of summer today, while in the southern hemisphere today is the shortest day and longest night of the year, with which the winter season has officially begun there. Depending on the geographical locations in Pakistan, the duration of the day today will be between 14 and 15 hours. Astronomers say that this trend will not last long and from July 1st, the duration of the day will gradually start decreasing, until on September 22nd, the duration of the day and night will once again become almost equal. It should be noted that the world’s longest day is being recorded in the central part of the US state of Alaska, where the duration of sunlight will exceed 21 hours.
