Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday paid tribute to former prime minister Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on her 73rd birth anniversary, describing her as a symbol of democracy, political stability and women’s empowerment in Pakistan.
In her message, the CM said that Benazir Bhutto Shaheed rendered remarkable services for the promotion of democratic values and strengthening of democratic institutions in the country. CM Maryam Nawaz said that Benazir Bhutto played a pivotal role in ensuring greater participation of women in politics and public affairs. She observed that her leadership opened new avenues for women and encouraged them to actively contribute to national development and decision-making processes.
The CM said that Benazir Bhutto’s courage, determination and unwavering commitment to democracy were unparalleled. Despite facing numerous challenges and hardships, she remained steadfast in her struggle for democratic principles and the supremacy of the Constitution, she added.

In her special message on Father’s Day, the CM said that a father is a source of strength, guidance and inspiration who plays a vital role in shaping the character and future of the next generation.
Saluting every father who fulfils the rights of his children and ensures their well-being, she particularly appreciated fathers who instill confidence, courage and a sense of self-worth in their children, especially daughters, enabling them to pursue their dreams and face life’s challenges with determination.
The CM said a father resembles a protective shade, enduring hardships, scorching heat and storms himself while providing comfort, security and support to his children. “A great father not only teaches his children how to live but also how to live with dignity and hold their heads high,” she said.
CM Maryam Nawaz said that fathers serve as guiding lights for their children, illuminating their path during difficult times and helping them navigate life with wisdom and confidence. She observed that the values of self-respect, perseverance and courage are often learned from a father’s example and guidance.
Sharing her personal sentiments, the CM said her father, former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, has always been her mentor, leader, teacher and source of strength. She added that his lap was her first school and his presence remains the strongest support in her life. She said the love, affection and personality of Nawaz Sharif have profoundly influenced her thinking and political journey, adding that he taught her the importance of self-respect, resilience and confidence in the face of challenges.
