PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged a political resolution to the issue of refugee seats, warning that the matter cannot be settled through force. He said the ongoing tensions in Azad Kashmir are harming Pakistan’s image and the broader Kashmir cause. His remarks come amid rising unrest and calls for administrative clarity.
Addressing the National Assembly, Bilawal said the situation in Azad Kashmir is worsening with shortages of essential goods. He stressed that law and order must be maintained and urged authorities to take action against those violating the law. He also asked protestors to distance themselves from extremist elements within their ranks.
Bilawal said the issue of refugee seats has become highly controversial but remains solvable through dialogue and legislation. He added that such matters should not be decided through threats or protests. He emphasized that both the Joint Awami Action Committee and other political groups have equal political space to present their views.
He further said that an earlier agreement with the action committee was nearly 80 percent complete and negotiations should continue. Bilawal urged all sides to resolve disputes within Pakistan’s constitutional framework. He also supported fair representation based on proportional outcomes and called for maintaining peace in the region.
In his broader remarks, Bilawal addressed water security and regional tensions, warning against any attempt to block Pakistan’s water supply. He also accused India and Israel of aligning against Pakistan and reiterated that Pakistan would defend its interests. He said Pakistan remains committed to peaceful resolution of disputes while protecting its sovereignty.
