Iran discusses deal with Kuwait FM

Published on: June 18, 2026 11:52 PM

Iran’s foreign minister has held a telephone conversation with his Kuwaiti counterpart to discuss the US-Iran memorandum of understanding and regional developments. The call comes as diplomatic efforts intensify following the signing of the Islamabad agreement. The exchange highlights ongoing regional consultations over the evolving peace process.

According to Arab media reports, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi briefed Kuwait’s foreign minister on recent developments related to the agreement. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to a policy of good neighbourliness. He also emphasized the importance of continued dialogue with Gulf states to strengthen regional stability.

Araghchi expressed hope that the agreement would help restore peace and stability in the region. He stressed the need to promote dialogue, build mutual trust, and reduce misunderstandings among neighbouring countries. His remarks reflect Iran’s efforts to expand diplomatic engagement after the recent accord.

Both sides also discussed broader bilateral relations and agreed to maintain regular communication. They underscored the importance of continued consultation on regional and international issues. Officials said sustained engagement could help ease tensions and support long-term cooperation.

The call follows a series of diplomatic contacts involving regional actors after the signing of the US-Iran memorandum in Islamabad. Countries across the Gulf have been engaging with Tehran and Washington to understand the implications of the agreement and its implementation framework.
