Punjab IG reaffirms resolve to expand scope of blood donation camps

Published on: June 15, 2026 2:29 AM

On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, Punjab Police has reaffirmed its commitment that, alongside protecting the lives and properties of citizens, it will continue to play a proactive role in the mission of saving precious human lives through blood donations. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that Punjab Police is further expanding blood donation activities under the promotion of community policing and pays tribute to police personnel and citizens who donate blood.

IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that Punjab Police stands shoulder to shoulder with the Health Department and private welfare organizations in the fight against thalassemia and hemophilia. He said that officers and personnel of Punjab Police are regularly donating blood for needy patients, including children affected by thalassemia and hemophilia, which is a shining example of service to humanity.

IG Punjab, while directing the supervisory officers to organize more blood donation camps in all field formations and police units in collaboration with private institutions, said that blood donation activities should be further promoted to ensure the timely provision of assistance to patients in need of blood.

Punjab Police spokesperson said that, on the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan’s first and exemplary Virtual Blood Bank Centre has been established, which is proving instrumental in the immediate provision of blood to needy patients with the help of modern technology. Citizens can contact the Virtual Blood Bank Centre by calling Emergency Helpline 15. After making the call, pressing button 4 immediately connects the caller to the Virtual Blood Bank, where the duty officer obtains information regarding the patient’s location and the required blood group.

Punjab Police spokesperson further said that registered blood donors in the relevant area are immediately connected with the patient’s family through a conference call, while police personnel of the concerned police station also provide full assistance in this welfare initiative. He said that citizens can register as blood donors through Helpline 15, the official website of Safe City, or Police khidmat Counters established in government hospitals. Along with police personnel, a large number of ordinary citizens are also registered with the Virtual Blood Bank and are playing their role in saving human lives by donating blood whenever needed.

IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that a single blood donation can save several lives; therefore, all segments of society should actively participate in this noble cause so that this great mission of serving humanity can be made even more effective.
