
The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has confirmed that the AJK general elections will be held on July 27 as scheduled. The commission dismissed speculation about a possible postponement of the polls, stating that all election-related activities are proceeding in accordance with constitutional and legal requirements.
According to the Election Commission’s spokesperson, the election schedule was issued on June 5 due to the constitutional term of the Legislative Assembly and other legal obligations. The spokesperson emphasized that the timing of the schedule was determined strictly by law.
The commission also rejected allegations that the election schedule was announced for any political purpose. It stated that the schedule was issued in line with constitutional provisions and legal procedures, and that suggestions of bad faith or political motives are unfounded.
The spokesperson said that conducting elections on time is a constitutional responsibility of the Election Commission. He added that the institution remains committed to fulfilling this duty with complete transparency, fairness, and impartiality.
The Election Commission further assured voters that all necessary arrangements are being made to ensure free, fair, and transparent polls. It reiterated that the AJK general elections will take place on July 27 according to the announced schedule, allowing citizens to elect their representatives through a credible democratic process.
