Pakistani actress Saba Qamar will reportedly take on the role of “Anmol Pinky” in an upcoming biopic television drama. The project is currently in development and is based on the life of alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky, whose recent arrest in Karachi drew widespread public attention.
The script is being written by journalist and television host Shahzaib Khanzada. The makers have not yet announced an official release date for the project. The drama is expected to explore the controversial and widely discussed life story of Anmol, also known as “Pinky.”
Anmol, widely known as Pinky, was arrested by Karachi Police on May 12 during a raid in the Garden area of the city. Since her arrest, investigators have shared details about what they describe as a large narcotics distribution network allegedly operated across multiple cities.
South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza stated that investigators believe Anmol ran a network of riders allegedly involved in supplying cocaine to customers in different regions. According to the DIG, she reportedly avoided hiring permanent staff and instead worked through a network of associates.
Investigators also claim that she moved from Karachi to Lahore at a young age after leaving home in pursuit of a modelling and film career before later becoming involved in alleged drug-related activities. Authorities further allege that Anmol developed links with several individuals, including a retired police officer and acquired properties and financial assets during the period.
Police have reportedly frozen bank accounts and seized properties as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials say 28 criminal cases were registered against her between 2018 and 2026 in Karachi and Lahore.
Multiple agencies, including the Federal Investigation Agency, Anti-Narcotics Force and National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, are assisting in the ongoing inquiries. The planned biopic marks a rare move in Pakistani television, bringing a recent high-profile criminal case to the screen. With Saba Qamar set to play the lead role, the project is expected to generate significant public and media attention once production progresses.
