An online discussion on the Linguistic Geography of Sindhi Language was held at Sindhi Language Authority (SLA) on Wednesday.
Dr Noor Chandiyo, Professor of Geography and Environment at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, talking part n online discussion, said that environment was a big and long-scale term, while weather was a part of environment, similar as sea was also a part of ocean. He said, the world has 71 percent water and 29 percent drought, in which all living creature live, and this land is geographically divided, therefore there is a change in the language and tone of each region. He said that the effects of environmental change were being seen in Sindh during the last three to four years, now the temperature had increased in the month of July, so the decisions made a hundred and twenty years ago. According to him, the weather should be looked at according to the current weather, especially summer or winter vacations in the education department should now be based on the recommendations of the meteorological department.
Renowned researcher Dr. Muhammad Ali Manjhi said that Sindh was geographically divided into different parts where mountainous areas, deserts, fertile plains and rivers flow between them. Therefore, the language and tone of each region is different and there are different names for the things, businesses and seasonal terms used here, he said.
