Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will depart for New York on Monday night to participate in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Open Debate on “Maintenance of International Peace and Security” following the conclusion of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s high-level engagements in Beijing marking the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations.
In a message posted by DPM Dar on his official X wall, he accompanied Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing earlier in the day.
Dar said he would participate in the UNSC Open Debate on Tuesday at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who will chair the session.
The deputy prime minister said he would remain in New York from May 26 to 28 and would also attend a “Group of Friends” meeting at the United Nations, besides holding several important sideline engagements with foreign ministers from various countries.
