The ministry said such actions undermine respect for one of Islam’s holiest sites and represent a serious breach of international norms governing religious and cultural heritage locations. It added that these incidents further inflame tensions in an already volatile region.
Saudi Arabia also called on the international community to intervene immediately to stop what it described as continued Israeli violations against religious sites and Palestinian civilians. The statement urged global powers to hold those responsible accountable for actions that threaten stability and escalate conflict.
The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem is one of the most sensitive religious sites in the Middle East, revered by Muslims worldwide. It has long been a focal point of political and religious tensions between Israelis and Palestinians.
The latest incident comes amid ongoing regional unrest and renewed concerns over escalating violence in the occupied Palestinian territories. Diplomatic reactions from several countries have previously been triggered by similar events at the site, reflecting its significance in the broader conflict.
Saudi Arabia has repeatedly expressed support for Palestinian rights and called for the protection of Islamic holy places in Jerusalem. The kingdom’s latest statement reinforces its position against any actions it views as altering the status quo of the Al-Aqsa compound.
