The incident occurred at Chennai airport when flames were reportedly spotted in one of the aircraft’s wings during preparations for departure. Pilots are said to have noticed the fire before take-off procedures were completed, allowing airport authorities to immediately halt the flight and activate emergency protocols.

The aircraft was carrying approximately 280 passengers at the time of the incident. All passengers were safely evacuated from the plane, and no casualties or injuries were reported. Airport emergency teams, including firefighters, responded quickly to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control.

Authorities temporarily suspended the aircraft’s departure while technical and safety teams inspected the plane. Indian media reported that the flight was scheduled to travel from Chennai to Abu Dhabi when the issue was detected. Officials have not yet released details regarding the airline involved or the specific cause of the fire.

An investigation has been launched to determine what triggered the incident, with technical teams expected to examine the aircraft’s systems, engine components and wing structure. Aviation incidents involving fire or technical malfunctions before departure are treated as high-priority emergencies due to the potential risks posed to passengers and crew.

The quick identification of the fire by pilots and the immediate emergency response likely prevented a more serious situation. Passengers were later assisted by airport staff following evacuation procedures, while authorities worked to manage operations at the affected area of the airport.

The incident adds to a series of recent aviation-related fire scares reported globally, renewing attention on aircraft safety inspections and emergency preparedness. Further updates are expected once investigators complete their preliminary findings. Airport officials have assured passengers that all necessary safety protocols were followed during the incident.
