Summer vacations to start from May 22 until August 23 across Punjab

Published on: May 12, 2026 2:03 AM

The Punjab School Education Department has announced summer vacations in government and private schools across the province.

According to the announcement, schools across Punjab will remain closed from May 22 to August 23, while academic activities will resume from August 24.

The notification reads that summer vacations in educational institutions of Punjab will start from May 22 and continue until August 23.

It may be mentioned here that earlier on Monday the Punjab cabinet has given approval of summer vacations in schools across the province. After Punjab Cabinet approval, Secretary Schools Education Mudassar Riaz has issued a formal notification.

Punjab govt decides to bring amendments to Madrasa Registration Act

Taking an important step to make the registration system of madrasas more simple and effective, the Punjab government has decided to bring amendments to the Madrasa Registration Act.

According to sources, the government has proposed legal amendments to relax the condition of separate registration of madrasas under the Societies Registration Act, under which madrasas registered under the Federation of Madrasas and other religious boards will not need to be re-registered in Punjab.

Sources say that a proposal to give federal registration of madrasas legal status at the provincial level is also under consideration, while a plan has also been prepared to link federal and provincial madrasa data.

According to the proposal, a madrasa that is already registered in the records of the Federal Registration Authority will not have to be registered separately in Punjab, which will provide relief to madrasas from double registration, additional paperwork and separate verification steps.

According to sources, the proposed amendments have been prepared after consultation with scholars and madrassa administrators and have been sent to the provincial cabinet for approval.

The Punjab Home Department officials say that the Punjab cabinet will be given a detailed briefing on the amendments to the Societies Act, after which formal approval will be sought.
