Pakistan Arrested Abbey Gate Attack Mastermind Says US Report

A new US counterterrorism report claimed that Pakistan arrested the mastermind behind the Abbey Gate attack and handed him over to the United States. The report described the arrest as a major development in international counterterrorism cooperation. Moreover, it highlighted continued efforts against extremist organizations operating in the region.

According to the 2026 US Counterterrorism Report, authorities captured the suspect within 43 days of the Abbey Gate attack in Afghanistan. Officials said the operation reflected close coordination between Pakistan and the United States. In addition, the report described the arrest as an important step in targeting global terrorist networks.

The report stated that Pakistan transferred the suspect to US custody after the arrest. It also mentioned that former US President Donald Trump publicly thanked Pakistan for its cooperation. Furthermore, officials said international intelligence sharing played a key role in the operation.

US authorities also announced plans to intensify operations against groups including Al-Qaeda and Islamic State – Khorasan Province. The report warned that these organizations continue to pose serious threats to global security. Therefore, Washington plans to expand counterterrorism partnerships with allied countries.

According to the report, the United States considers ISIS-K and Al-Qaeda among the most dangerous extremist organizations. As a result, US officials said they will increase support for partner nations involved in anti-terror operations. Moreover, the report emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in preventing future attacks.

The report concluded that counterterrorism efforts remain a top priority for the United States and its allies. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s reported role in arresting the Abbey Gate attack mastermind received international attention. In the end, the US report highlighted growing cooperation between countries in confronting terrorism and extremist violence.
