ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has appointed Kainat Azhar Khan as the new Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Islamabad, assigning her an additional responsibility as SSP Operations Safe City.
According to an official notification issued by Islamabad Police, the appointment was made by Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi as part of a reshuffle in the capital’s police administration.
Kainat Azhar Khan, a BS-18 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), replaces Mohammad Sarfraz Virk, whose services have been transferred to the Punjab government. The move comes as Islamabad Police seeks to strengthen traffic management and operational efficiency in the federal capital.
In addition to her new role as CTO, Kainat Azhar Khan has also been given the additional charge of SSP Operations Safe City. Meanwhile, Awais Ali Khan has been relieved of the additional responsibility for the post.
Police officials said Khan brings extensive experience in traffic management and law enforcement to her new assignment. Before her transfer to Islamabad, she served as Chief Traffic Officer and SP Cantt in Multan, where she was involved in overseeing traffic regulation and policing operations.
Her professional career also includes postings as SDPO Civil Lines and SDPO Cantt in Rawalpindi. Officials noted that her experience in both operational policing and traffic administration is expected to contribute to improving road safety, traffic flow and enforcement measures in Islamabad.
The appointment places Khan among the senior officers responsible for managing traffic operations and public safety initiatives in the capital. Her dual role is expected to enhance coordination between traffic management and Safe City operations, which rely on technology-driven monitoring and enforcement systems.
The latest posting reflects ongoing administrative changes within the Islamabad Police aimed at improving public service delivery and strengthening law enforcement capabilities.
