Lahore workshop fire brought under control after hours of effort

Published on: May 8, 2026 10:16 PM

A fire broke out at a workshop in Lahore’s Gulshan Ravi area on Monday, which was later brought under control after several hours of continuous firefighting efforts. Rescue 1122 confirmed that emergency teams responded quickly after receiving reports of the blaze near Band Road in the busy industrial locality. The fire spread rapidly and engulfed multiple parked buses inside the workshop, creating a challenging situation for rescue workers. Authorities later confirmed that cooling operations were still ongoing even after the main fire was extinguished.

Rescue officials stated that the incident occurred near 5 Number T area where United buses were parked inside the workshop premises at the time of the fire. Firefighters reached the location shortly after receiving an emergency call from the Pump Wala Bazaar area of Shibli Town. Emergency teams immediately began efforts to control the flames as thick smoke and heat made operations difficult in the early stages. Additional support vehicles were also dispatched to strengthen the firefighting response.

According to Rescue 1122, firefighters remained actively engaged for several hours before successfully controlling the intensity of the blaze. Teams worked in coordination with Edhi volunteers who also reached the scene with ambulances to assist in any possible medical emergencies. Fortunately, officials confirmed that no casualties were reported immediately during or after the firefighting operation. However, they continued monitoring the area to ensure complete safety and prevent any possible re-ignition.

Authorities have stated that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined and investigations will be conducted to identify the source of the incident. Initial reports suggest that the fire may have started within the workshop area, but officials have not confirmed any specific reason so far. Meanwhile, cooling operations were carried out to fully secure the affected site and eliminate remaining heat pockets. Investigators are expected to collect evidence once the area is completely declared safe.

The incident has raised concerns due to its location near a densely populated and industrially active part of the city where similar fires have occurred in the past. In earlier incidents, workshops and storage facilities in Lahore have also faced major fire outbreaks, leading to large-scale emergency responses. Authorities emphasized the importance of fire safety measures in such commercial and transport hubs to prevent future incidents. They also assured that safety inspections may be strengthened in the affected area.

Overall, the quick response by rescue teams helped prevent major damage and ensured that no lives were lost in the fire incident at Gulshan Ravi workshop. Emergency services remain on alert as cooling and inspection work continues at the site to ensure complete safety. Officials have urged workshop owners to follow safety guidelines strictly to avoid similar incidents in the future. The investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to continue in the coming days.
