Iran foreign minister Araghchi to revisit Pakistan after Oman trip

Published on: April 26, 2026 2:20 PM

Abbas Araghchi, the foreign minister of Iran, is expected to visit Pakistan again after completing his diplomatic trip to Oman, according to Iranian state media reports. The announcement came shortly after Araghchi departed Islamabad earlier in the day, indicating that diplomatic engagement between the two countries remains active during ongoing regional tensions. Officials said the renewed visit forms part of broader consultations aimed at addressing developments connected to the Middle East conflict.

According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, the foreign minister plans to return to Islamabad before continuing his journey to Russia as part of an extended diplomatic schedule. The report also noted that part of Araghchi’s delegation had already returned to Tehran to hold consultations with senior leadership. Those officials are expected to receive updated guidance regarding diplomatic efforts related to ending the regional conflict before rejoining the minister.

Iranian officials stated that members of the delegation who traveled back to Tehran will return to Islamabad after completing internal discussions with government authorities. The team is expected to regroup with Araghchi in Pakistan on Sunday night before continuing diplomatic engagements. Analysts believe the ongoing visits highlight Pakistan’s emerging role as a venue for dialogue and consultations involving regional stakeholders seeking ways to reduce tensions.

Meanwhile Iran has also continued diplomatic outreach toward Gulf states as part of its broader regional strategy. The Iranian foreign ministry confirmed that a delegation traveled to Oman for discussions marking the first such visit since the recent Middle East conflict began affecting regional stability. Officials emphasized that Tehran considers relations with neighboring states an important element of maintaining political balance and strengthening regional cooperation.

Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry, said Tehran remains committed to building trust and constructive partnerships with countries across the Persian Gulf region. He noted that relations between Iran and Oman demonstrate the country’s approach of pursuing respectful and mutually beneficial ties with neighboring states. Diplomatic engagement with regional partners therefore continues alongside efforts to address the broader geopolitical crisis.

Observers say the renewed diplomatic activity signals continued efforts by Iran to coordinate positions with regional partners while exploring potential solutions to the ongoing conflict. Pakistan’s involvement in discussions has also attracted attention as international actors search for neutral venues for dialogue. Consequently Araghchi’s expected return to Islamabad could play a role in further consultations aimed at easing tensions and promoting diplomatic progress.
