Trump reacts sharply to Iran war questions

Published on: April 24, 2026 9:06 PM

US President Donald Trump reacted sharply to questions about the duration of the Iran war during a White House interaction with reporters. He dismissed critical media coverage and described parts of the reporting as inaccurate. His remarks came amid ongoing scrutiny of the conflict’s progress.

Trump said Iran has already suffered significant damage in the conflict. He urged reporters not to rush expectations about a ceasefire or resolution. He compared the situation to previous long wars involving the United States.

He stated that his administration has only been engaged in the conflict for a few weeks. Trump said it was too early to discuss an end to the war. He rejected suggestions that the United States is under pressure to stop military operations.

On energy prices, Trump said there could be temporary increases in fuel costs. However, he argued that the outcome would ensure Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons. He added that long-term benefits would outweigh short-term economic impacts.

Trump also said oil prices remain lower than expected and markets are performing strongly. He insisted that the US strategy is aimed at long-term security and regional stability. Officials have not announced any immediate change in policy.
