Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid a rich tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his death anniversary, saying that his thought, wisdom and philosophy continue to inspire generations and remain a guiding force for national progress.
In her special message on Tuesday, she said that although Allama Iqbal was no longer among us, his intellectual depth and vision would live forever. She noted that Iqbal not only alerted Muslims to future challenges but also gave the timeless concept of “Khudi,” encouraging self-realization, courage and purposeful living.
The chief minister said that Allama Iqbal possessed unmatched intellectual and philosophical insight, adding that his poetry was deeply rooted in the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
She highlighted that Iqbal had presented the idea of unity among the Muslim Ummah decades ago, which remains highly relevant today.
Emphasizing the need for practical application of his ideas, CM Maryam Nawaz said that the deeper meaning embedded in Iqbal’s poetry must be brought forward and implemented to address contemporary issues facing society. She further said that Allama Iqbal had also underlined the importance of resolving the Palestine issue and had timely pointed out the brutal realities associated with Zionist actions, reflecting his far-sighted understanding of global affairs.
The CM urged the youth to study and follow Iqbal’s philosophy in order to build a strong, united and progressive Pakistan, adding that his message continues to serve as a beacon of guidance for the Muslim world.
