A targeted police operation in Lakki Marwat district resulted in the killing of two militants, while one police official was martyred during the exchange of fire, police officials said on Monday.

The operation was conducted in Akhundan forest area near a security camp, which borders Bannu. The action was launched on the basis of intelligence reports regarding the presence of militants.

During the operation, security forces engaged in a heavy gun battle with militants belonging to a banned outfit. Two militants were killed in the exchange, while others managed to escape into the forest area, reportedly carrying their injured companions with them.

Police confirmed that one of the militants has been identified as a highly wanted commander, Aamir Sohail, alias “Aqabi” and “Umar Khattab.” He was allegedly involved in targeted killings, attacks on police and security forces, bomb blasts and serious crimes.

In the line of duty, police official Atiq-ur-Rehman embraced martyrdom, displaying exceptional courage and bravery during the operation.

Authorities stated that a large-scale search operation is ongoing in the area to track down the fleeing militants. District Police Officer (DPO) Nazir Khan emphasized that police remain at the forefront in the fight against terrorism and are fully committed to eliminating this menace to ensure lasting peace in the region.

Separately, a lady constable was martyred in a terrorist attack in Khuzdar district of Balochistan, police said on Monday.

The victim, Lady Constable Malik Naz, embraced martyrdom on April 19, 2026, when terrorists carried out an attack in the Bajoi area of the district. Officials said Malik Naz had joined the Levies Force in 2013 under the Shaheed quota after her husband, Abdul Ghani, was martyred in a targeted killing in 2011 while serving in the force. Continuing her husband’s legacy, she served with dedication and courage.

Funeral prayers for the martyred constable and a head constable, who was also killed in the same attack, were offered in Quetta. DIG Khuzdar Wazir Khan Nasir, other police officials, and local residents attended the prayers. Both personnel were laid to rest with full state honours.

Meanwhile, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said two terrorists linked to the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Khwarij were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Bannu. According to the ISPR, an intelligence-based operation was conducted by security forces on April 19, 2026, in Bannu District following reports of the presence of Khwarij elements.

Among those killed was Kharji ring leader Waheedullah alias Muktiar, along with a suicide bomber. A suicide jacket, weapons, and ammunition were also recovered from the killed Khwarij.

Moreover, four construction workers, including excavator operators, were abducted by armed men in the Peer Mela area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tirah valley on Monday.

Local sources said the kidnapped men included two excavator operators and as many labourers, who were working on levelling the land for the construction of a link road when armed men abducted them at gunpoint. They added that the abducted workers had been taken to an unknown location.

According to sources, three of the abducted men belonged to Balochistan. Meanwhile, security forces have launched a search operation in the area and nearby localities, they added.
