Iran has announced it is tightening military control over the Strait of Hormuz, warning that the key shipping route is again under restriction. The move comes amid rising tensions with the United States and renewed uncertainty over maritime traffic in the Gulf.
Shipping sources reported that at least two vessels came under gunfire while attempting to transit the waterway. Maritime security officials said radio warnings were issued by Iranian naval forces instructing ships not to pass through the strait.

Iranian armed forces described the action as a response to what it called a continued US blockade of Iranian ports. Tehran accused Washington of violating ceasefire terms and labeled its actions as “piracy.” Iranian officials said naval forces are prepared for further escalation.
