NA speaker, Fazl discuss regional situation, parliamentary matters

Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, on Tuesday met President Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and discussed the current regional situation and matters of mutual interest.

Both leaders emphasised the need to further strengthen the legislative process and enhance the effective role of Parliament. They also discussed promoting national unity, democratic stability, and political harmony.

Ayaz Sadiq highlighted that consultation and cooperation among political leadership were essential to address the challenges faced by the country. He further stated that strengthening coordination among political parties was in the national interest. The Speaker stressed the importance of adopting a unified strategy in the national interest and underscored the need for all parliamentary parties to play an active role in addressing national issues and fostering unity.

He also noted that Pakistan was playing an active role in the evolving situation in the Middle East.

JUI-F chief appreciated the role of Sardar Ayaz Sadiq as custodian of the House and acknowledged the importance of Parliament in the current regional situation.

He remarked that Parliament’s role was of key significance in addressing ongoing challenges. Maulana Fazlur Rehman also appreciated Pakistan’s role in the Israel-Iran conflict and emphasised that, in light of the changing regional dynamics, it was essential to take parliament into confidence for making important decisions.
