According to sources, the incident occurred on February 28 near Chakri Interchange 310 was later intercepted near Islamabad by Inspector Faraz Mehdi, who identified the driver. Inspector Azhar Latif also arrived at the scene, and it was at this stage that the driver was allegedly recognised as Mansoor Ali Khan. Despite the clear over-speeding violation, sources said the anchor was allowed to leave without a challan or legal action.

The issue gained attention within the NHMP after details went viral on social media, prompting Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to seek clarification. Following the minister’s intervention, the NHMP ordered a formal inquiry to determine whether standard enforcement procedures were violated and why no ticket or FIR was issued.

The inquiry will examine the sequence of events, including the interception of the vehicle, the conduct of patrol officers, and the alleged decision to release the driver. Authorities noted that the vehicle’s number plate was also reportedly not registered with the Excise Department, though Mr Khan said he had submitted all documents and cited a technical issue delaying registration.

Mr Khan confirmed the interception but expressed willingness to pay any fines if a violation is officially established. The NHMP is expected to submit the findings of the fact-finding inquiry to its high command in the coming days.
