Heavy rains lashed various areas of the city on Sunday, making the weather pleasant.
The rain was recorded in Ferozepur Road, Samanabad, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Mazang, Sabzazar, Awan Town, Karim Block, Gulberg, Model Town, Johar Town, Iqbal Town, Defense and Canal Road.
According to the Meteorological Department, this series of rains may continue intermittently, due to which temperature had dropped significantly. Due to cool winds, citizens welcomed the pleasant change in the weather.
According to the Met department, the minimum temperature of the city was recorded at 17 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is likely to go up to 25 degrees Celsius. According to the department, intermittent rain is likely during the next 24 hours and the weather in the city is expected to remain partly cloudy.
Meanwhile, the WASA and the district administration alerted staff for immediate drainage of water from low-lying areas, while citizens have been instructed to avoid unnecessary travel.
The district administration was alerted after the rain in the provincial capital Lahore.
Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Ali Ijaz issued instructions to WASA and administrative officers to immediately mobilise in the field.
WASA official sources said the staff including machinery, are fully active for drainage across the city, while immediate drainage of rainwater is being ensured from low-lying areas.
According to the district administration, timely drainage of water is also underway from the city’s main roads.
ACs told to inspect areas as drainage teams deployed in Islamabad after rain
Rain continued in several parts of the federal capital, prompting the district administration to activate field teams and monitor the situation across the city.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon directed all Assistant Commissioners to visit their areas and review conditions on the ground while sanitation teams were mobilised to ensure the flow of rainwater.
According to the spokesman of district administration, rain was recorded in different sectors of Islamabad during the day. Following the rainfall, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all Assistant Commissioners to move to the field and observe the situation in their respective areas. The officers were asked to keep a close watch on roads, streets, and residential sectors to ensure that rainwater does not create problems for residents.
Special monitoring has been ordered for low-lying areas and drainage channels. The district administration stated that these locations usually face water accumulation during rainfall, therefore field staff have been directed to remain present
in such areas and report any issue without delay.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon also ordered sanitation teams to start drainage work without waiting for complaints. Municipal staff were mobilized to remove rainwater from roads and streets so that traffic flow and daily activities continue without interruption.
Officials said that the district administration control system is active and officers are sharing updates from the field. Assistant Commissioners have been instructed to coordinate with sanitation teams and other departments if any blockage in drains or water accumulation is reported.
The Deputy Commissioner is personally monitoring the rain situation across Islamabad. Field officers have been directed to stay in their areas until the rain ends and normal conditions are restored.
The district administration stated that the purpose of these steps is to keep roads clear, prevent water buildup, and respond quickly if any problem arises due to the ongoing rainfall.
