Senior Minister of Sindh and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon visited major commercial centers in Hyderabad to review the prices of food items. On this occasion, he personally checked the prices of vegetables, fruits, meat, flour, sugar and other basic necessities and directed the district administration to ensure strict implementation of the official price lists during the holy month of Ramadan.
During the visit, some shopkeepers were warned for not displaying price lists and charging more than the official prices.Sharjeel Inam Memon also spoke with citizens present at the markets and listened to their complaints regarding prices. He made it clear that profiteering and hoarding will not be tolerated under any circumstances during the month of Ramadan.
He stated that the Sindh government is taking all possible measures to provide relief to the public, and that ensuring the availability of affordable, quality food items remains the government’s top priority. He added that Ramadan is a month of blessings and mercy, and turning it into an opportunity for unlawful profiteering is deeply regrettable. He directed the district administration to monitor markets on a daily basis and further strengthen the price-checking mechanism so that immediate action can be taken against those violating the fixed rates. He reaffirmed that providing relief to the people is the government’s responsibility, and that all available resources are being utilized to achieve this objective.
