CTD kills five militants in Pishin operation

Published on: February 23, 2026 10:31 AM

QUETTA: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has killed five terrorists, including a suspected suicide bomber, during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Pishin district of Balochistan, officials said on Monday.

According to a CTD statement, the raid was carried out near the old Surkhab refugee camp after intelligence reports about the presence of militants planning attacks in the area. A heavy exchange of fire took place when law enforcers surrounded the hideout.

On 21 February, in a cowardly attack, Security Forces convoy was targeted by Indian proxy Fitna al Khwarij in Bannu District while an intelligence based operation was being conducted on reported presence of Khwarij including a suicide bomber.

“As a result, a suspected suicide bomber and his four accomplices were killed,” a CTD spokesperson said, adding that the group had planned to target police lines and Cadet College Pishin. Security forces are continuing investigations to identify the militants and their network.

The development follows a series of counter-terrorism operations across the province. Last week, CTD said 14 suspected militants were killed in separate actions in Quetta and Barkhan districts. Eight armed men were shot dead during a security operation in Quetta’s Darakhshan area, while six militants were killed in another intelligence-based raid in Barkhan.

The latest actions come as the state intensifies operations against militant groups amid a tense security situation in Balochistan and neighboring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Earlier this month, security forces concluded Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1 in Balochistan, killing 216 militants in days-long clearance operations, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The campaign was launched after a spate of coordinated attacks across the province on January 31 that disrupted normal life in several areas.

During simultaneous sweeps, around 180 suspects were arrested and a large cache of weapons and ammunition was seized by the Frontier Corps and police, officials said, describing the efforts as part of a sustained drive to dismantle militant infrastructure in the restive province.
