Punjab launches 100 Ramazan bazaars

Published on: February 12, 2026 3:45 PM

The Punjab government has launched 100 Ramazan bazaars to provide subsidised food and essential items across the province. The initiative aims to ease financial pressure on citizens during the holy month of Ramazan. Residents in all 152 tehsils will benefit from discounted prices and special relief measures.

Officials said 100 Ramazan bazaars and 1,216 Maryam tables will operate province-wide to ensure smooth distribution. These facilities will offer groceries, daily essentials, and food items at reduced rates. In addition, 120 dedicated sale points will distribute subsidised flour. Authorities have also directed 105 large supermarket chains to display official sale rate counters for transparency.

Under the Ramazan Nigahban package, distribution of relief cards has begun across Punjab. The government has allocated Rs47 billion for the programme. Cardholders will be able to purchase essential commodities at discounted rates from designated bazaars. The package aims to support low and middle-income families facing rising inflation.

Several key price reductions have been announced for Ramazan. A 10 kilogram bag of flour will be available for Rs850. Citizens will receive a 20 percent discount on 20 essential items. Chicken meat will be sold at Rs15 per kilogram below official rates. Meanwhile, sugar prices have been capped at Rs160 per kilogram.

To ensure compliance, the Food Security and Commodities Management Department has directed district commissioners to maintain price stability. The Para Force will monitor implementation of official rates across markets. The Punjab Food Authority will check food quality at Maryam tables. Additionally, a three-day Ramazan Savings Festival will begin tomorrow at Lahore’s Jilani Park.
