YouTuber Ducky Bhai indicted in online gambling case; former NCCIA officials face problem

Court rejects Youtuber's bail plea in online gambling case

LAHORE: A Lahore district court on Monday indicted popular YouTuber Saadur Rehman, known as “Ducky Bhai”, his wife, and others over allegations of promoting online gambling and betting apps. The court has summoned witnesses for February 23.

The case, registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), accuses Rehman of promoting platforms such as Binomo and 1xBet through his YouTube channel, which has over 10 million subscribers and more than 800 videos. Rehman and the other accused denied the charges in court.

The FIR cites violations under sections 13, 14, 25, and 26 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, along with sections 294-B and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Rehman had been arrested on August 17, 2025, and spent over three months in NCCIA custody before obtaining bail from the Lahore High Court on November 26.

Following his release, Rehman publicly alleged torture and humiliation during his detention, specifically accusing former NCCIA Lahore additional director Sarfraz Chaudhry of slapping and verbally abusing him, forcing him into degrading positions, and even involving a child in the harassment.

Chaudhry was dismissed from service in September 2025 over controversies including Rehman’s allegations. In October, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested him along with six other NCCIA officials—Zafar, Shoaib Riaz, Ali Raza, Mujtaba Zafar, and Yasir—on charges of misuse of authority and bribery. These officials are under investigation for allegedly favoring complainants in ongoing inquiries.

The indictment of one of Pakistan’s most-followed digital content creators has sparked widespread attention, highlighting ongoing scrutiny of both online content regulation and alleged misconduct within the country’s cybercrime authorities.
