Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Monday, met with World Bank President Ajay Banga in Islamabad.

During the meeting, discussions were held on increasing cooperation in the sectors of health, education and skills, minerals, energy, and climate change, says an official statement here.

The CM said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government values the cooperation of the World Bank, adding health and education are the top priorities of the provincial government, and significant investments are being made in these sectors.

Sohail said provincial government is strengthening the primary healthcare system, and “Ehsaas Maa” program is being launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

From pregnancy to childbirth, complete care of the mother and child will be the responsibility of the government, and in case birth of a girl child, an additional three months of support will be provided.

The Chief Minister said universal health coverage is being provided to 100 percent of the province’s population.

He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suffered severe damage due to natural disasters, and investment in climate resilience is being increased.

He said the interests of the local population are being given top priority in the minerals sector, and steps are being taken under a comprehensive strategy to make the province self-sufficient in food.

Sohail Afridi said work is underway on several projects to bring barren lands in the southern districts under cultivation.
