
MOSCOW — A Ukrainian drone attack killed two civilians in Russia’s Belgorod region, authorities said Monday. The overnight strike hit a residential building in the town of Stary Oskol. The house caught fire and partially collapsed after impact.
Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed the deaths in a statement on Telegram. He said rescue teams recovered two bodies from the damaged building. Emergency services continued work at the site following the attack.

The town of Stary Oskol lies north of the Ukrainian border. Russian officials blamed Ukraine for the drone strike. As a result, tensions between the two sides remain high.
Ukraine has increased drone attacks inside Russia in response to near-daily Russian bombardments. Kyiv says the strikes target energy and military-related infrastructure. Meanwhile, Russia continues attacks on Ukraine’s power and heating facilities.

Russia’s strikes have caused widespread outages during extreme winter temperatures, reaching minus 20 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, a Russian drone hit a bus in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, killing at least 12 people. The conflict now nears its fourth year.
