Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has strongly criticized television host Tabish Hashmi for controversial comments about Karachi’s governance, calling them irresponsible and harmful to the image of Sindh. His remarks quickly drew public attention, especially after the issue gained momentum on social media platforms.
Meanwhile, addressing the media, Sharjeel Memon expressed serious concern over what he described as misleading narratives about Karachi. Without directly naming Hashmi, he rejected the statements as foolish and questioned the host’s understanding of constitutional principles and regional realities.

In addition, Sharjeel urged the private television channel to carry out an internal review of the broadcast and take disciplinary action if necessary. He emphasized that media organizations hold a responsibility to promote responsible journalism rather than sensational content.

The controversy began after Hashmi commented on Karachi’s governance following the Gul Plaza fire incident. During his show, he suggested privatizing the city, comparing it with the government’s decision to privatize Pakistan International Airlines.
As a result, his remarks triggered backlash from Sindh government officials and political figures, who viewed the comments as disrespectful. The debate has now reopened discussions about media ethics and the limits of satire in sensitive political matters.
