
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert warning of rain and snowfall across the province. The warning covers hilly and lowland areas from January 26 to 27. Authorities have placed all relevant departments on 24-hour alert to manage emergencies.
Most districts, including Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur, are expected to receive rainfall during this period. Residents have been urged to stay cautious and follow advisories issued by local administrations. Officials stressed that precautions are vital to avoid accidents and disruptions.

Snowfall is forecast in Murree, Galiyat, and other hilly areas, with particularly heavy snowfall predicted on January 26 and 27. Tourists have been advised to cooperate with local authorities and avoid unnecessary risks during adverse weather conditions. PDMA emphasized that safety measures must be followed at all times.
Authorities confirmed that snow-clearing operations in Murree have reopened all major roads. DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia reported that 5.5 inches of snow fell overnight, bringing total snowfall to nearly 20 inches. Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed said administrative teams are actively managing traffic and monitoring tourist safety.

Despite cleared roads, snowfall continues, and the administration remains fully alert. Citizens and tourists are urged to contact the PDMA helpline at 1129 in case of emergencies. Officials warned that continued vigilance is necessary to prevent accidents or sudden disasters.
