
The Election Commission of Pakistan suspended 159 lawmakers for failing to submit asset details. The move affects members of parliament and provincial assemblies nationwide. Suspended members are barred from legislative proceedings until compliance.
The suspension includes 32 National Assembly members and nine senators. It also affects 50 Punjab Assembly members and 33 Sindh Assembly members. Additionally, 28 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and seven Balochistan Assembly members face suspension.

Several senior political figures were among those suspended by the ECP. These include Akhtar Mengal, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Murad Saeed. Moreover, PPP leaders Abdul Qadir Gilani and Ali Musa Gilani were also suspended.
From Sindh, Speaker Awais Qadir Shah and former chief minister Qaim Ali Shah were affected. Senators Abid Sher Ali and Musaddiq Malik were also suspended. The ECP said memberships will remain inactive until asset statements are submitted.

Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq ordered suspended members to leave the House. He said they cannot attend sessions or record attendance. Election laws require lawmakers to file annual asset declarations.
