After seven months on the market, Nintendo is adding new color options for the Switch 2’s Joy-Con controllers. The company announced that two new models, “Light Purple” and “Light Green,” will release on February 12, coinciding with the launch of Mario Tennis Fever.

The new colors maintain the design language of the original controllers, featuring colored accents on the joysticks and connection points, while the main shell remains dark gray. This marks the first official chance for users to personalize their Switch 2 beyond the standard red and blue set that comes with the console.

Currently, the only Joy-Con 2 options are red and blue, offering fewer choices than the original Switch, which launched with Neon Red/Blue and gray models. The limited variety has made it harder to distinguish multiple consoles in a household or during local multiplayer sessions, a problem the new colors aim to address.
Nintendo has made the new Joy-Con 2 units available for pre-order on its website at $99.99 each. This price aligns with the company’s trend of higher hardware costs, though it has not deterred buyers from showing interest in the Switch 2.
Despite the new options, the console’s market performance remains under scrutiny. A report from November 2025 noted that Switch 2 sales volumes were the lowest for Nintendo in some time. The addition of colorful controllers may help boost appeal and attract new users, particularly for families and multiplayer setups.
