ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken disciplinary action against 19 officers and officials for corruption, abuse of authority, and negligence, the agency announced on Friday. Director General Riffat Mukhtar Raja said the measures aim to strengthen transparency and professional standards within the department.

Six officials were dismissed following departmental inquiries. Among them, Inspector Maria Niaz was removed for illegally occupying a government residence and remaining absent from duty. Sub-Inspector Kashif Riaz Awan was dismissed for providing protection to a gang involved in illegal organ trafficking.
Two other sub-inspectors, Tasaddaq Hussain and Ahmad Waqar, were dismissed for conducting illegal raids and faulty inquiries. Constable Asifullah Dutta was removed on charges of illegal raids and extortion, while Technical Assistant Inayatullah was dismissed for negligence and involvement in illegal immigration clearance.
In addition, 13 officers faced various penalties. Inspectors Muhammad Arsalan Masood Khan and Idrees Khan were demoted in pay scale for demanding bribes during inquiries. Sub-Inspector Sohail Ahmad had his promotion withheld for one year due to negligence. Several other officers and constables received penalties ranging from withholding increments to formal warnings.
The FIA spokesperson said the actions reflect the department’s commitment to integrity and accountability. Citizens are encouraged to report complaints against FIA officials through the official helpline or email.

“This is part of our ongoing effort to maintain professionalism and ensure that illegal activities and negligence are not tolerated within the agency,” the spokesperson added. The FIA said it will continue monitoring the performance of its officers and take strict action against misconduct.
