Netanyahu to brief Trump on potential Iran strikes

Published on: December 21, 2025 3:18 PM

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to brief US President Donald Trump on possible action against Iran’s ballistic missile program, citing threats from its expanding capabilities, NBC News reported on Saturday.

Israeli officials are increasingly concerned that Iran is reconstituting nuclear enrichment sites previously targeted by US airstrikes in June, prompting discussions about preemptive measures to curb Tehran’s missile and nuclear ambitions.

The briefing aims to explore options for swift action, as Israel assesses the strategic risks posed by Iran’s advancing program, emphasizing that any delay could enhance Tehran’s regional influence and military strength.

Earlier, Iran executed a man accused of spying for Israel and aiding opposition groups, reflecting the ongoing shadow conflict between the two nations, according to Iran’s judiciary news agency, Mizan.

The Oslo-based Iran Human Rights group identified the executed individual as 27-year-old architecture student Aghil Keshavarz, reporting that his death sentence stemmed from confessions allegedly extracted under torture, highlighting concerns over human rights violations.

Tensions between Israel and Iran escalated after Israeli strikes in June targeted multiple sites inside Iran, including covert operations involving Mossad commandos, while executions of suspected Israeli spies in Iran have significantly increased this year.
