Gabriel, played by French actor Lucas Bravo, has been a central figure since the show’s debut. His on-again, off-again romance with Emily has long been a driving force of the storyline.
According to the show’s creators, however, there is no cause for concern. Director and executive producer Andrew Fleming addressed the issue in an interview with Us Weekly, clarifying that Bravo’s limited screen time was due to scheduling conflicts rather than creative decisions.
Fleming revealed that Bravo was simultaneously committed to filming a movie during the production of Season 5. As a result, the writers were forced to adjust the storyline and reduce Gabriel’s on-screen appearances.
I kind like the writers allowed Gabriel to go on his own and gave Emily the space to explore, although I missed Gabriel being more involved in the season, it felt like a good approach from a perspective of Sylvie advice to Gabriel “if is meant to be, will happen” #EmilyInParis 😌 pic.twitter.com/a38x3DGYrF

“He’s important. He’s part of the DNA of the show,” Fleming said. He added that the chemistry between Emily and Gabriel remains a core element of the series and continues to resonate strongly with audiences.
Despite his reduced role, Season 5 concludes with a significant romantic development. After Emily ends her relationship with Marcello and returns to Paris, Gabriel learns of the breakup and writes her a heartfelt letter.
In the letter, Gabriel openly expresses his feelings and invites Emily to visit him in Greece. The moment sets up a potential reunion that fans have been anticipating for several seasons.
Looking ahead, Fleming hinted that their story is far from finished. He suggested that Emily and Gabriel will continue to cross paths, though he remained tight-lipped about how their relationship might evolve.

Netflix has not yet officially confirmed a sixth season of Emily in Paris. However, Fleming expressed confidence that the story will continue, reassuring fans that Gabriel’s journey on the show is not over.
